Key Dates and Registration Deadlines
Blue Teams and White II Teams

Blue and White II Teams play in the competitive Alabama Soccer Association.  Blue Teams play within their single age Division.  White II Teams are single age teams that play up in a division a year older so it is very competitive.

These teams were formed last June 2013 for the full 2013-14 soccer year. Players that re-register for the spring retain their team roster slot. Failure to re-register by the deadline can result in a player losing their slot.

Re-Registration Deadline is Wednesday, January 1, 2014.

On Thursday, January 2, there is a Replacement Player try-out for players wishing to compete for any team vacancies that exist.

U-11 & U-12 Boys and Girls:  4:30 to 6:00 PM

U-13 & U-14 Boys and Girls: 6:00 to 7:30 PM

 White III Teams

White III Teams play in the recreational Central Alabama Soccer League (CASL).  The CASL league is a true recreational league.  Scores are not reported or standings kept.  It is focused on the joy of the game and developing all players. White III Teams are single age teams that play up in a division a year older in order to challenge appropriate players while still fully abiding by the recreational goals and style.

The existing teams were formed through evaluations last July for the full 2013-14 soccer year. Players that re-register for the spring retain their team roster slot. Failure to re-register by the deadline can result in a player losing their slot. Players that wish to continue to play but would prefer to play on a Red (Recreational-true age) team should inform Chris Rogers (Boys) or Melanie Bald (Girls), the age group DOC’s.

Re-Registration Deadline for White III Teams is Friday, January 17, 2014.

On Saturday, January 18, there is a Replacement Player evaluation for U-9 and U-10 players wishing to be considered for any team vacancies that exist.

U-9 & U-10 Boys and Girls:  9:00 to 10:00 AM

Each Spring, White III Teams for U-8 players are formed for the first time, they are not available for this age in the fall.

On Saturday, January 18, there will be a Player evaluation for players wishing to be considered for newly forming U-8 White III teams.

U-8 10 Boys and Girls:  10:15 t0 11:15.

All White III Teams are single age and single gender teams

Red Teams

Red Teams play in the recreational Central Alabama Soccer League (CASL).  The CASL league is a true recreational league.  Scores are not reported or standings kept.  It is focused on the joy of the game and developing all players. Red teams play with their age group in divisions as assigned by CASL. Teams play about half of their 8 season games at Homewood Soccer Park and half at other fields within the greater Birmingham area.

The existing teams were formed last July and a strong effort is made to keep them together.  However, Red teams are more open to meeting the range of needs of the players and Homewood Soccer is open to reasonable requests based on friendships, schedules, family needs, transportation issues, etc. But, please understand that not all needs can be met and there are fixed field schedules that must take precedence.  If you have a special request please inform Chris Rogers (Boys) or Melanie Bald (Girls), the age group DOC’s.

Red Team Registration Deadline:   The process of Red Team formation will begin on Saturday, January 25 and the teams will become set soon after that week end. Players will be allowed to continue to register and will be placed on teams as long as there are spaces available on established teams.  For information, contact Chris Rogers at the Homewood Soccer Office 205 874-9182.

Patriot League

Patriot League Registration Deadline: Saturday, February 1, 2014

The February 1 deadline is firm.   The first days of play are:

Tuesday, February 25 (U-5/U-6 Teams); and

Thursday, February 27 (U-4, U-7/U-8 Girls, U-7 and U-8 Boys).

A major change was made last fall that will impact the U-7 and U-8 Girls program.  For all U-7 and U-8 Girls, all girl teams will be formed as the primary team structure.  The all-girl teams will combine U-7 and U-8 age players.  The teams will continue to practice on Thursday nights and the teams will play games on Saturdays.
The other result will be that the boy U-7 and U-8 boy teams will also be single gender.  As in the past, only the U-8 boys teams will play games on Saturday.
Check the Web site for more information.

Special note for Patriot parents: The Homewood Soccer Patriot Program has become a major community event for many families.  Our success in providing a desirable program however does create a large need for volunteer parents to serve as team coaches. As you sign up your child, please consider volunteering.  The opportunity to work actively with your child and their friends is guaranteed to create great memories.

The Homewood Soccer Management Team is spending the fall-spring season break working on developing the tools and guidance to make the coach’s role easy and fun. We will only ask for about 5 minutes of preparation before each practice which you can do at your leisure or while your little player is getting ready to leave.  There is a volunteer box on the form to check or if you miss that send an email to Lee Lavette at leelavette@charter.com and give her your name.   Thank you.

The Homewood Soccer Club Registration and Payment Process

It is our goal to make the Registration and Payment process as simple and convenient as possible.  But it is also critical that the process be accurate and fair.

Homewood Soccer is proud of our commitment to help every child that wants to play soccer to find a way to make that happen in a manner that is understanding to all but also fair to all and will allow the Club to survive and grow.

If you have any question about our process and would be more comfortable working in Spanish please contact Andrea Arguedas at (205) 514-2082.

Registration:

All players must be registered through the on-line system (The Affinity System).  We cannot accept paper documents.

Each player must register using their legal name as shown on a birth certificate, passport or other official document.  Nick-names or shortened names or middle names are not acceptable.

Each player must provide a working contact method.  That can be an email or a phone number.  We would prefer both if possible. The contact method must be one that is checked regularly so the player can be contacted on short notice.

Registration can be done on a home or work computer.  Homewood Soccer Club operates an office at  809 Greensprings Highway which is open Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 to 3:00.  Registrations can be done at the office.  The office is also the best contact point to resolve any registration or payment issues or to get additional information.  The Office Manager is Chris Rogers at (205) 874-9182

The Club will provide scheduled registration and payment nights at the Homewood Soccer Park in the evenings to allow registration to take place there.  Watch this web site for announcements on a schedule.

Remember that each level of play has registration deadlines.  Do not delay in getting registered.

Payment Process:

The Club offers two paths for setting up payment plans and making the payments.

1. Payments through a Bank (Credit Card or E-Check)

Near the end of the registration process you will be offered several methods of making the required fee payments.  The first required choice is to either pay in full or to create a Payment Plan. Once you make this selection you will be offered to either pay in full or in scheduled payments using a credit card (MC, Visa or Discover) or with an E-check). If you are making scheduled payments you will chose the number of payments.  The options will be dependent on the amount to be paid.  Scheduled payments will be automatically charged.  You will receive a 7 day advance notice before the charge is made.

2. Manual Payments:

If you desire to make manual payments using checks or cash or a credit card in person, it will be necessary to establish a formal payment plan.  If you plan to apply for financial aid it will also be required that you create a manual payment plan.

Manuel Payments without financial aid: It will be necessary to come to the Club Office during office hours, or come to the Field during a scheduled Registration and Payment night, and create the required form.  The form will be an agreement that the parent signs that commits to making scheduled payments.  On completing the form it will be necessary to make an initial payment that at least covers the minimum payment required for the level of play.  The additional payments can then be made, in accordance with the agreed schedule, either at the field to an authorized person or at the office.

Manual payments with a financial aid request. The Homewood Soccer Club offers financial aid support to players that could not play without assistance.  The primary method of showing financial need is by presenting a letter from the player’s school showing that the player has been qualified for reduced or free lunches by the (Federal Government)

A second method of qualifying for financial aid is for the parent to write a letter to the Club Treasurer explaining the appropriate circumstances.  The Treasurer and the FA Committee will make the decision on the amount of appropriate need.

Under either of these methods the FA Committee will offer appropriate FA and work with the parent to design a scheduled payment plan that includes payment of the minimum payment as appropriate. The parent is required to make the payments as agreed to in the payment plan.

The minimum payments for the play levels are:

   Patriot:                                                                $50.00
    Red Team:                                                         $75.00
    U-9 and U-10 White Teams:                             $100.00
U-11 to U-13 White teams and Blue Teams:   $150.00

Registration will not be accepted and team assignments made until the requirements listed above are completed.  Players will not be allowed to play in a season game until the registration is accepted and activated. Players that do not keep obligations current are subjected to being withheld from games.

A Family Discount of $10.00 for each sibling, after the first one, in a family will be applied automatically. This applies for all Play Levels.
